Comp AI Raises $34 Million to Expand AI-Powered Cybersecurity and Compliance
Based in Aventura, Comp AI secured a $34 million Series A funding round last month, which is intended to support product development, cybersecurity expansion, and hiring.
Led by Roo Capital and Grand Ventures, Comp AI centers its mission on developing AI technology to protect sensitive information and help businesses follow cybersecurity rules in an automated way. With the latest investment, Comp AI has raised approximately $37.5 million since its founding.
The company was founded in January 2025 by Lewis Carhart, CEO and co-founder; Claudio Fuentes, COO and co-founder; and Mariano Fuentes, CTO and co-founder. The founders worked together at LeapAI, an AI workflow platform that was reported to amass more than 1 million users before the company discontinued operations.
The team has taken its experience with Leap AI to quickly make an impact with Comp AI. Since its founding, Comp AI reports that it has surpassed more than 1,000 customers and a 15-fold increase in annual recurring revenue.
At a time when South Florida’s technology and innovation ecosystem is growing, Comp AI represents yet another startup securing funds to advance to new stages of development.
How Comp AI Uses Artificial Intelligence to Simplify Compliance
Comp AI uses agentic AI that enables the AI system to perform multiple tasks with limited human intervention. The platform specifically collects evidence for audits, monitors compliance requirements, evaluates vendor security, and identifies risk.
The company’s frameworks integrate with more than 580 business and technology tools, including SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and GDPR. By using Comp AI’s tools, its companies have the potential to expedite the audit process.
While a traditional auditing process for a business could take months to collect all the necessary documentation, Comp AI’s artificial intelligence is intended to automate that preparation, which frees up employees to focus on the primary requirements of their roles.
The work that is accumulated by Comp AI has the ability to make it easier for the human professionals that review the final work product. Independent audits still remain a necessary part of the auditing process.
Moving Beyond Compliance Into Continuous Cybersecurity
Looking to the future, Comp AI plans to expand beyond traditional compliance automation. Traditional audits provide a snapshot of a company’s security at a particular point in time. With how quickly cybersecurity adapts, security risks can change immediately after software and systems are updated.
To counteract this potential issue, Comp AI is taking one step forward. It is currently developing technology that could allow companies to continuously monitor security controls and to proactively locate and fix any gaps.
Comp AI’s planned capabilities include:
Real-time monitoring
Continuous security validation
AI-powered penetration testing
Identifying vulnerabilities in applications and infrastructure
With these skills, AI agents could have the ability to increasingly identify, evaluate, and help companies address security risks. Partnered with human oversight, there are safeguards set in place and remain important for consequential actions.
Rapid Growth and Expansion in South Florida
The industries that Comp AI serves reflect some of the biggest industries in South Florida. Specifically, Comp AI targets companies in healthcare, higher education, financial services, and software and technology.
Part of Comp AI’s use of the seed money will be used to hire local talent for the quickly growing company. The hiring needs will include engineering, product development, operations, sales, marketing, and customer success. The expansion could also create additional technology employment opportunities in South Florida to increase the talent pool and business ecosystem.
Comp AI’s growth provides another example of venture capital investment in the region’s AI and cybersecurity sector.
South Florida has seen its fair share of success over the past year. In February, Florida Atlantic University received a $20 million investment in quantum computing, and in April, Palm Beach State College secured $1 million in federal funds to launch an AI cybersecurity center.
On the business side, AI companies have also been making great leaps, as well. For example, The American Baby Company raised a $4 million seed round to expand access to AI-driven fertility care, and DeLorean Artificial Intelligence was acquired by WellStack in a healthcare intelligence deal.
As venture continues to make investments in South Florida, others will likely follow suit.
The Growing Role of AI and Cybersecurity in South Florida Businesses
Rapid AI adoption is changing how businesses develop and deploy software. ModMed recently announced a new agentic AI platform that also helps to alleviate administrative work and make services more streamlined.
Faster software development has the potential to introduce new vulnerabilities and security challenges. As AI platforms are introduced or updated, Comp AI’s tools could combine compliance management with periodic reviews for our own companies in South Florida and for companies around the world.
As the demand for cybersecurity compliance grows with each passing day, Comp AI’s tools could create opportunities for companies in regulated industries to be proactive about cybersecurity.
Comp AI’s funding and expansion demonstrate increased investor investment in AI-native cybersecurity companies and are another example of a business headquartered in Miami-Dade that connects the growing technology to the region’s innovative economy.
Comp AI’s $34 million funding round reinforces South Florida’s growing reputation as a hub for cybersecurity and tech innovation. Additional investment demonstrates venture capital interest in companies emerging in the region. Expansion plans in South Florida create opportunities for other local startups and for high-skilled technology jobs that can attract more entrepreneurs, investors, and talent.
Continued growth of companies like Comp AI helps position South Florida as a competitive destination for emerging technology and innovation.
