Miami Cybersecurity Firm GigaNetworks Acquired by National IT Provider BlueAlly, Expanding National Security and Network Capabilities
South Florida's cybersecurity sector has another acquisition to add to its growing list of technology deals.
BlueAlly, a national IT services and solutions provider, announced August 3rd that it has acquired Miami-based GigaNetworks, Inc., an enterprise IT and network security solutions company founded in South Florida in 2008.
The acquisition brings nearly two decades of GigaNetworks' security and networking expertise into BlueAlly's larger national platform, expanding the combined company's capabilities across cybersecurity, cloud, networking, infrastructure and managed services.
For GigaNetworks, the deal marks a significant milestone for a company that has spent nearly 20 years building its business from Miami.
Built in South Florida
GigaNetworks was founded in Miami in 2008 by David Mendenhall, CISSP, and Pilar Somoza, Ph.D., with a focus on helping organizations navigate increasingly complex enterprise technology and cybersecurity environments.
Mendenhall, the company's CTO, brings more than three decades of technology industry experience spanning engineering, product management, systems engineering, marketing, business development and channel operations. Somoza, GigaNetworks' CEO, has overseen operations, human resources, team development and company strategy.
Over the years, GigaNetworks developed an enterprise IT model spanning strategic planning, systems evaluation, implementation, training and technical support. Its security and infrastructure portfolio includes firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, endpoint protection, cloud protection, systems management, wireless infrastructure and other enterprise networking technologies.
The company has also built relationships across a broad technology ecosystem that includes Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Cisco and Meraki, CrowdStrike, Check Point, Proofpoint, Zscaler, Rapid7, Tenable and F5, among others.
GigaNetworks has maintained certifications as a State of Florida Minority-Owned Business Enterprise and Woman-Owned Business Enterprise, along with Miami-Dade County Disadvantaged Business Enterprise and Miami-Dade County Public Schools Minority/Women Business Enterprise certifications.
That combination of technical expertise, established customer relationships and a long-standing presence in South Florida brings additional security and networking depth to BlueAlly's growing national platform.
"We are excited to welcome GigaNetworks, and the clients they serve, to the BlueAlly family," said Ian Daum, Chief Revenue Officer at BlueAlly.
Daum pointed to the trust GigaNetworks has developed over nearly two decades helping customers strengthen and simplify their security environments, while noting that similarities between the companies' cultures have helped accelerate integration efforts.
From a Miami Cybersecurity Firm to a National Platform
For GigaNetworks' customers, the acquisition opens access to a significantly larger technology and services platform.
BlueAlly provides services across cybersecurity, compliance, cloud, modern data centers, application modernization, DevOps, automation, advanced networking and other areas of enterprise IT. The company says its national operation includes more than 500 professionals holding more than 2,000 industry certifications and has served more than 12,000 customers.
"GigaNetworks was built around a client-centric model and a belief that complex security and network projects require close involvement, technical skill, and responsive support," said Mendenhall.
According to Mendenhall, joining BlueAlly expands the capabilities available to GigaNetworks' existing customers while giving the Miami team access to BlueAlly's broader portfolio, technical expertise and national reach.
The combination creates a more comprehensive technology partner capable of supporting organizations from assessment and strategic planning through implementation, security, optimization and ongoing management.
BlueAlly Takes an Acquisition-Led Approach to Growth
The GigaNetworks transaction is the latest in a series of acquisitions BlueAlly has used to expand its capabilities and reach.
BlueAlly has been backed since 2020 by Source Capital, a private equity firm investing in mature middle-market companies. Since Source Capital's investment, BlueAlly has pursued multiple acquisitions across cybersecurity, cloud, government technology and IT services.
In 2023 alone, the company acquired n2grate Government Technology Solutions, Corporate Armor, B2B Technologies and Strata Consulting.
Together, those transactions expanded BlueAlly's presence across federal government technology, cybersecurity and infrastructure products, Microsoft cloud technologies, compliance, DevOps and Amazon Web Services capabilities.
BlueAlly and Source Capital's acquisition strategy earned industry recognition in 2024 when they were named Dealmaker of the Year for Lower and Mid-Market Deals at the MSP Summit, recognizing transactions valued between $5 million and $50 million. The pair was among four winners recognized that year, alongside major industry transactions including Cisco's acquisition of Splunk.
BlueAlly's strategy stands out in a technology channel where acquisitions are far from universal. An August 6 analysis from Futurum found that 79.8% of channel respondents reported completing no acquisitions during the previous two years. BlueAlly, by contrast, has repeatedly turned to M&A to add expertise and broaden the capabilities available to its customers.
GigaNetworks adds another piece to that strategy: deep enterprise cybersecurity and networking experience built over nearly two decades in the South Florida market.
The acquisition also comes as cybersecurity remains a major growth priority across the technology channel. Futurum reported that 73.8% of channel partners surveyed expect cybersecurity to drive growth in 2026, placing security among the industry's highest-priority opportunities.
For BlueAlly, acquiring an established security-focused provider gives the company additional expertise in precisely the area where partners expect significant customer demand.
A South Florida Cybersecurity Story Goes National
For South Florida, the acquisition represents another example of a locally built technology company reaching a new stage of growth through a national transaction.
GigaNetworks launched in Miami in 2008, years before South Florida's current rise as a technology and innovation hub to what it is today. Nearly two decades later, the expertise and customer relationships built here have become part of a national IT platform serving thousands of organizations.
The deal also puts a spotlight on the depth of cybersecurity expertise being built in the region. As demand for security continues to grow across the technology channel, GigaNetworks' trajectory demonstrates how specialized companies developed in South Florida can build value and capabilities with relevance far beyond the region.
For GigaNetworks, the acquisition provides greater scale and resources. For BlueAlly, it adds nearly two decades of enterprise security and networking expertise. And for South Florida, it's another locally grown technology story reaching the national stage.
