Breeze Airways Expansion Further Positions Fort Lauderdale as a Growing Business Hub

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is becoming increasingly connected and is enhancing the South Florida transportation network with the recent announcement of additional Breeze Airways flights. Breeze Airways prides itself on being a premium leisure carrier providing affordable direct flights from underserved markets.

In early July, the airline began service from Fort Lauderdale, FL to Tallahassee, FL with one-way fares as low as $39 along with 10 additional routes.

“For nearly five years, Breeze has been filling a long-overlooked gap in the industry by connecting underserved markets with affordable, nonstop service,” said David Neeleman, Breeze Airways’ founder and CEO. “The addition of these new cities and routes will give even more travelers the opportunity to save precious hours that would otherwise be spent flying through hubs or driving.”

How Breeze Airways Is Reshaping Air Travel

Breeze Airways is quickly getting more national recognition as it expands throughout the nation. Breeze was named one of Fast Company’s World’s Most Innovative Companies of 2025 for its ability to transform the low-cost airline with a more elevated experience when compared to competitors in the field.

Breeze  was also named the Best Major Airline in North America by the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) and the No. 3 Best Domestic Airline by Travel + Leisure in 2025. These rankings have placed Breeze in the list’s top four every year since it began flying.

Breeze is able to differentiate itself by providing fast onboard Wi-Fi that is critical for business travelers in today’s society and no change or cancellation fees which are valuable when business meetings and schedules change. Breeze also offers a brand-new fleet of Airbus A220-300 aircraft along with preferred seating options which make the experience more enjoyable and allow passengers to have a comfortable and affordable flight.

Breeze’s quick rise to prominence is also tied to the business strategy. The airline predominantly focuses on direct flights coupled with a few one-stop, no plane change options. The flexible network allows more business opportunities in underserved cities nationwide.

Why Does the Breeze Airways Expansion Matter for South Florida?

As South Florida’s tech and business ecosystem continues to grow at a rapid pace, it is essential that the region is connected to emerging business communities as they also begin to develop.

By having more route options to growing regions, the Breeze expansion has the potential to strengthen South Florida’s position as a business and innovation hub. Since Breeze’s approach differs from the giant airport hubs, the faster more direct travel will cut down on travel time and will allow more in-person client connections, investor opportunities, vendor meetings, and regional expansion.

The expansion is also a sign that Fort Lauderdale is becoming an even bigger transportation hub, further reinforcing that South Florida is the gateway to South America and also a thriving economic hub nationwide.

Reduced dependency on Atlanta, Charlotte, and Dallas for connecting flights positions South Florida to become an even greater economic player through talent recruitment, collaboration, and investment.

Routes from FLL to Cities Around the Nation

The increased transportation possibilities help position South Florida as more than a tourist destination and focus more on the robust industries that are present throughout the region.

The selected routes have connections to some of the fastest-growing economies for aerospace, manufacturing, engineering, software, and logistics. By connecting with more cities and regions that align with South Florida’s industry growth, there is greater potential to collaborate with businesses with similar goals.

Based on the success of the original three routes and with demand for additional flights for the region, the addition of 11 new routes out of Fort Lauderdale brings the total to 14 routes.

The Breeze Airways Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Routes include:

  • Akron/Canton, OH (existing route, multiple weekly flights)

  • Birmingham, Ala. (nonstop on Mondays and Fridays);

  • Charleston, S.C. (nonstop on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays);

  • Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C. (nonstop on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays);

  • Huntsville, Ala. (existing route, nonstop, Mondays and Fridays)

  • Jacksonville, Fla. (nonstop daily);

  • Myrtle Beach, S.C. (existing route increasing to six times weekly)

  • Pensacola, Fla. (existing route increasing to six times weekly);

  • Salisbury, Md. (nonstop on Wednesdays and Saturdays);

  • Savannah, Ga. (existing route increasing to four times weekly on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays);

  • Tampa, Fla. (nonstop service operating 13 times weekly);

  • Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pa. (nonstop on Wednesdays and Saturdays)

  • Wilmington, N.C. (existing route, nonstop on Mondays and Fridays)

Coverage of these routes has helped to fill in gaps from FLL to cities to other destinations. In addition to Fort Lauderdale, Breeze has also announced more than a dozen new nonstop routes within other cities in Florida, including an expanded intra-Florida network, to bring greater convenience and connectivity to residents, travelers, and commuters across the state.

Fort Lauderdale’s Increasing Influence Throughout the Nation

The Breeze Airways expansion is another symbol that Fort Lauderdale and South Florida are recognized as a business leader and is not solely known as a tourist destination.

The new routes spotlight the region’s impact throughout the nation and the world. Transfers from the giant airline hubs are no longer the only solution to get to South Florida. The additional Breeze Airways routes further demonstrate that South Florida is a leading destination as business and innovation continue to expand on a national and global scale.
