AMPERA Establishes Global Headquarters in Palm Beach Gardens, Bringing Next-Generation Nuclear Energy Innovation to South Florida

AMPERA, a rapidly growing next-generation nuclear energy company, recently announced that its worldwide operations will now be led from Palm Beach Gardens, establishing a major advanced nuclear energy hub in South Florida.

The company will operate from two buildings at the Gardens Innovation Center at PGA National Commerce Park, totaling nearly 100,000 square feet. The campus will house research and development, engineering, proprietary additive manufacturing, assembly operations, and administrative and back-office functions.

“This facility isn't just a location — it's a launchpad for AMPERA's mission to deliver the world's safest, most compact nuclear energy systems,” said Brian Matthews, CEO and founder of AMPERA. “At this innovation hub, we'll advance and commercialize truly transformative energy technology. Our ultra-safe, mobile micro-nuclear reactors will be at customer locations by 2030.”

AMPERA is an advanced nuclear energy company focused on designing ultra-safe, compact, and scalable nuclear power systems, especially microreactors built for modern energy needs. These systems provide reliable, emission-free power for sectors with high energy use, including AI data centers, defense and national security installations, industrial facilities, and remote off-grid communities.

The company’s designs integrate hybrid fusion–fission technology and advanced manufacturing, aiming for reactors that require no refueling and produce minimal long-lived waste compared with traditional reactors. AMPERA emerged from stealth mode in late 2025, unveiling proprietary reactor technology and signaling its ambition to become a major player in next-generation clean energy.

Matthews, a British physicist and serial deep-tech entrepreneur, leads the company as it advances its microreactor systems. By combining additive manufacturing, AI-driven control, and proprietary reactor design, AMPERA aims to achieve unmatched levels of safety, performance, and scalability. The technology is intended to power defense installations, data centers, and industrial applications with compact, autonomous, emission-free energy.

Strategic Move to Palm Beach Gardens

AMPERA cited several reasons for selecting Palm Beach Gardens as its global headquarters. The area provides access to a skilled engineering talent pool, a growing technology and financial sector, proximity to major airports, and a high quality of life that appeals to professionals nationwide.

The company expects to hire approximately 100 employees by the end of 2026 and anticipates expanding to as many as 2,500 high-skilled jobs over the next five years as operations scale. The facility will serve as the company’s central hub for R&D, engineering, additive manufacturing, assembly, and administrative operations.

“This is another significant addition to Palm Beach County strengthening its position globally to be a leading high-tech innovation hub,” said Business Development Board of Palm Beach County President and CEO Kelly Smallridge.

Significance for South Florida

AMPERA’s relocation represents a significant development for Palm Beach County and the broader South Florida region. Florida has not traditionally been a hub for nuclear innovation, and the company’s move signals the state is becoming competitive for advanced technology and deep-tech headquarters. It complements other recent corporate relocations that bring diverse, high-growth firms to the region.

AMPERA’s focus on AI, clean energy, and defense infrastructure aligns with sectors experiencing surging demand for reliable and emission-free power. By placing R&D and manufacturing in Palm Beach Gardens, the company positions South Florida as part of the national conversation on next-generation power and technology infrastructure.

The jobs created, particularly in engineering, advanced manufacturing, and research and development, are high-wage and highly skilled, providing opportunities for local residents and attracting talent to the area. This diversification strengthens the local economy beyond tourism, finance, and traditional industries, supporting sustainable economic growth.

By choosing Palm Beach Gardens as its global headquarters, AMPERA brings deep-tech nuclear R&D and manufacturing to Palm Beach County, promising potential economic and technological ripple effects for the entire South Florida region. The move highlights the county’s growing appeal to advanced technology companies and strengthens its position in the emerging sectors of clean energy, AI, and defense infrastructure.
