Boca Raton Hits 300+ Miles with MiCa: A Forward-Thinking Look at Microtransit
The City of Boca Raton’s first fare-free, fully electric autonomous shuttle, MiCa, has logged over 300 miles since its launch a few months ago, marking a major milestone in the city’s push toward smarter, more connected mobility.
A Forward-Thinking Approach to Microtransit
Microtransit is an on-demand transportation model designed to complement traditional transit, offering flexible, short-distance rides to transit hubs, commercial areas, and cultural destinations. For growing cities like Boca Raton, microtransit helps reduce congestion, lower emissions, and provide residents and visitors with efficient access to jobs, shopping, and entertainment.
Local Partners Driving Innovation
MiCa is the product of collaboration between three local companies. Guident, based in Boca Raton, provides autonomous vehicle safety and oversight through its Remote Monitor and Control Center (RMCC), which combines AI monitoring with human supervision to ensure safe operations. Circuit, headquartered in West Palm Beach, operates all-electric, on-demand microtransit services in more than 50 U.S. markets, connecting residents to key destinations while supporting sustainable urban mobility. Auve Tech designed and delivered the autonomous shuttle itself.
Together, these partners created a reliable, safe, and practical transportation option that connects residents and visitors to Mizner Park’s restaurants, shops, and cultural venues.
Looking Ahead
Since its launch, MiCa has become a visible example of how autonomous microtransit can support a growing South Florida region, providing sustainable, flexible, and accessible mobility as cities continue to expand.
During the MiCa reveal, Circuit CEO Alexander Esposito said, “The City, with its incredible leadership, never stops growing, improving and innovating. I’m thrilled that Circuit has been a partner during this historic time. Our AV partnership with Guident Corp is a major next step in bringing cutting-edge services to the community.”
With MiCa, Boca Raton is demonstrating that forward-thinking mobility solutions can be safe, practical, and beneficial for residents, visitors, and the local economy.
