Miami-Based Healthtech Startup Eyecheq Strategically Partners with iCare for Advanced Eye Screening

As South Florida’s health care industry continues to rise at a rapid pace, one of Miami’s most impressive healthtech startups, Eyecheq, is transforming the way people uncover their eye health through a simple self-check kiosk.

Due to the company’s ability to broaden the reach of eye testing in communities that traditional clinical locations cannot adequately serve, Revenio Group’s company iCare and Eyecheq announced their partnership at the beginning of August 2026. This alliance will allow Eyecheq to reach more people at a faster rate.

“Our partnership with iCare represents a shared commitment to transforming access to eye care,” said Dr. Rashid Taher, CEO of EyeCheq. “Together, we’re removing traditional barriers to screening by putting cutting-edge diagnostic technology directly into easily accessible settings for communities that need it most. We are seeing the automation of the iCare imaging devices as a key part of the successful adoption of our platform in primary care and retail settings, which have tremendous potential to scale.”

From Miami to the Future of Eye Care

Two co-founders, Dr. Rashid Taher and Ali Khoshnevis reside in Miami, Fla. Together with Khan Siddiqui, these co-founders recognized Miami as a key location to launch Eyecheq. The main corporate office is situated in Wynwood, and the startup focuses on providing point-of-care retinal screening.

Eyecheq’s mission is to provide a faster way to detect health issues that eye exams can uncover. The company’s self-service kiosks can uncover diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and other major health issues.

The automated eye health technology can provide early detection for users and prevent vision deterioration and unchecked health issues. There are approximately 40.1 million people in the United States that have diabetes, which is 1 in 8 people in the U.S. Of those, 1 in 4 people are not aware that they have it. Diabetes is the #1 cause of preventable blindness.

Eyecheq’s 5-minute screening can detect the presence of these conditions and prompt a consultation with a licensed doctor within their state within 24 hours.

What This Means for South Florida's Innovation Ecosystem

The parent company of iCare, the Renovio Group, has recognized Eyecheq as a major player that can help in their mission to uncover eye care diagnostic and vision care technology solutions operating on a global scale.

The iCare and Eyecheq partnership is intended to expand access to automated screening solutions while supporting the continued development of AI-based diagnostics.

Before the partnership with iCare, Eyecheq raised approximately $10 million in financing, including Series A funding. Since Eyecheq is a homegrown health technology, more investors will consider investing in other South Florida startups through venture capital and other partnerships similar to this one.

Additionally, it recognizes the region’s impressive health industry at a global level. iCare’s Finnish headquarters and Renovio’s subsidiary companies are located across the world. Eyecheq has highlighted the strong health industry in South Florida that is supplemented with the health systems and world-class hospitals in the tri-country area.

Similar to the global reach, Eyecheq is also bringing attention on a national scale. South Florida is becoming more widely recognized as an innovation hub. A collaborative ecosystem will generate more jobs and the ability for other health tech startups to launch.

Renovio Group’s Expanded Vision Care Portfolio

The Renovio Group is widely known for its portfolio of vision care technology solutions. Renovio’s mission is to connect efficient diagnostic solutions that provide eye care professionals with fast, easy-to-use and reliable solutions for the diagnosis and monitoring of eye conditions.

In April 2026, Renovio acquired the entire share of Visionix for a €290 million sale.

The recent partnership between iCare and Eyecheq continues to fulfill their ambition to build an innovative portfolio and partnerships that will allow the reach of these technologies to expand at a faster rate.

iCare's imaging solutions pair well with the Eyecheq kiosks through a range of cutting-edge devices with unique confocal-based technology that captures ultra-high-quality, detail-rich images. iCare’s MAIA® capabilities combine retinal imaging and visual sensitivity testing into a single exam, allowing clinicians to evaluate retinal function while capturing detailed images of the back of the eye.

Expanded Access to Care

The partnership between iCare and Eyecheq will allow these two technologies to integrate and provide a more effective tool to provide accurate and expanded early-detection.

The Eyecheq kiosks in South Florida and around the country are located in labs, pharmacies, hospital systems, and retail locations.

Eyecheq also recently launched the CLRA platform, its next-generation patient engagement tool at the 35th Annual Vision Exchange Conference in April 2026. CLRA is a closed-loop referral coordination to the right specialist. It cracks the referral to completion and cuts down on average wait times.

Now that the combined technologies from Eyecheq and iCare can be connected, the ability to diagnose, treat, and prevent deterioration of eye-related diseases will further spotlight Eyecheq and South Florida as a health care industry and health tech innovation hub.
