Stablecoin Development Corporation Relocates from California to West Palm Beach, Adding to City’s Growing Finance-Tech Ecosystem

The City of West Palm Beach has landed another California company and this time one operating at the intersection of public markets, blockchain and digital assets.

Stablecoin Development Corporation (NYSE American: SDEV) has relocated its principal executive offices from Emeryville, California, to downtown West Palm Beach, establishing its new headquarters at 222 Lakeview Avenue. The move became effective July 1, 2026, according to company filings.

The relocation brings a publicly traded digital asset company to a region that has increasingly attracted financial firms, investment managers, technology companies and entrepreneurs from traditional financial centers across the country.

The company itself has undergone a significant transformation over the past year, pivoting from pharmaceuticals to digital assets and positioning itself to provide public-market investors with exposure to the growing stablecoin economy.

From Pharmaceuticals to Digital Assets

Stablecoin Development Corporation was formerly NovaBay Pharmaceuticals, a California-based pharmaceutical company whose business historically centered on eye care and other healthcare products.

Following the sale of NovaBay’s Avenova business in 2025, the company began exploring a new strategic direction. That direction ultimately led to digital assets.

In January 2026, the company completed an approximately $134 million private placement backed by investors including R01 Fund LP, Framework Ventures, Sky Frontier Foundation and Tether, the company behind USDT, one of the world’s largest stablecoins. The capital helped launch a dramatically different strategy centered on accumulating and participating in digital assets connected to the stablecoin ecosystem.

In March, NovaBay announced that it would change its name to Stablecoin Development Corporation, and the following month its shares began trading on the NYSE American under the ticker SDEV. Today, the company describes itself as an on-chain holding company designed to provide public-market exposure to the stablecoin economy.

Rather than simply issuing its own stablecoin, Stablecoin Development has focused heavily on accumulating SKY, the governance token associated with Sky Protocol, a decentralized finance ecosystem that evolved from MakerDAO.

The company can deploy those digital assets through activities including staking and governance participation, creating the potential to generate revenue while maintaining exposure to the underlying ecosystem.

By July 27, Stablecoin Development reported holding approximately 2.296 billion SKY tokens, representing roughly 10% of the token’s outstanding supply. The company valued those holdings at approximately $128 million based on market prices at the time.

The strategy has also begun generating revenue. Stablecoin Development reported approximately $2.2 million in staking revenue during the second quarter of 2026 and approximately $4.7 million during the first six months of the year.

Why West Palm Beach?

As Stablecoin Development transformed its business model, it also reconsidered where that business should be based.

The company terminated its Emeryville office lease effective June 30 and moved its principal executive offices to 222 Lakeview Avenue, Suite 800, in West Palm Beach.

In its second-quarter regulatory filing, the company said the relocation eliminates its legacy operating lease obligation, reduces fixed costs and better aligns its physical footprint with its digital-asset-focused operations.

The new headquarters places Stablecoin Development in the Esperanté Corporate Center in the heart of downtown West Palm Beach, a Related Ross property. Related Ross has played a significant role in shaping the city’s continued growth and attracting a new wave of innovative businesses and investment to the region. The relocation also places Stablecoin Development within a broader South Florida market undergoing a transformation of its own.

Over the past several years, West Palm Beach and the surrounding Palm Beach County region have increasingly attracted financial services companies, investment firms, family offices, private equity and venture capital investors, entrepreneurs and technology executives.Much of that success has been to the credit of the “Wall Street South” initiative lead by the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County.

That influx has helped strengthen the connection between South Florida’s traditional financial sector and emerging areas of technology, including fintech, blockchain, artificial intelligence and digital assets.

Unlike a traditional asset manager or financial services firm relocating from the Northeast, SDEV represents a publicly traded company building its strategy around blockchain-based financial infrastructure, an area attracting increasing attention as stablecoins move further into mainstream financial markets.

Stablecoins Move Closer to Mainstream Finance

Stablecoins are digital assets generally designed to maintain a stable value by being tied to assets such as the U.S. dollar. Their potential applications extend well beyond cryptocurrency trading, including payments, cross-border transactions, settlement and other financial infrastructure.

As adoption grows and the regulatory environment surrounding digital assets continues to evolve, some of the world’s largest financial institutions, fintech companies and technology firms have begun exploring how blockchain-based dollars and tokenized assets could fit into the future financial system.

Stablecoin Development is betting that public-market investors will want exposure to that growth. The company’s backing from investors including Tether and Framework Ventures also connects its West Palm Beach headquarters to organizations already deeply involved in the global digital asset ecosystem.

The City of West Palm Beach’s emergence as a financial center has been well documented, but the next stage of that growth may increasingly involve companies that blur the lines between finance and technology.

Stablecoin Development Corporation is doing exactly that.

Its journey from a California pharmaceutical company to a publicly traded digital asset business headquartered in downtown West Palm Beach may be unconventional, but it also reflects two transformations happening simultaneously: the evolution of financial technology and the continued evolution of South Florida as a destination for the companies building it.
