Palm Beach County’s Film and Production Industry: A Rising Force in South Florida’s Creative Economy

Palm Beach County is rapidly emerging as one of South Florida’s most dynamic centers for film, television, and digital media production. With record-breaking production spending, nationally recognized projects, and a growing base of local production companies, the region is positioning itself as a serious production destination, not just within Florida, but across the United States.

At the heart of this growth is the work of the Palm Beach County Film & Television Commission, which recently announced its fourth consecutive year of record-breaking production spending, exceeding $260 million in 2025. This milestone represents a 3% increase over 2024, further reinforcing The Palm Beaches as one of Florida’s premier production markets.

Record-Breaking Growth Signals Industry Strength

The continued expansion of Palm Beach County’s production ecosystem reflects sustained demand across multiple production formats, from feature films and television to commercials, live broadcasts, and digital content.

In 2025 alone, the industry delivered strong performance metrics:

  • Production Revenue: $260.5 million

  • Hotel Room Nights: 20,055

  • Production Days: 9,936

  • Total Productions: 602

  • Permits Issued: 323

According to Film Commissioner Michelle Hillery of the Palm Beach County Film & Television Commission, the growth highlights the resilience of the local industry and the strength of regional collaboration.

“Our production community has built a sustainable economic engine that generates millions of dollars annually, strengthens tourism, supports workforce development, and positions Palm Beach County as a serious production market,” Hillery noted.

Local Production Companies Power the Industry

A substantial portion of Palm Beach County’s production success is driven by local companies that keep jobs, services, and spending within the region. More than 150 production-related companies operate throughout the county, supporting everything from broadcast production to live events and branded media.

Several major companies play a central role in Palm Beach County’s production infrastructure:

  • Olympusat - A global broadcaster headquartered in West Palm Beach, Olympusat distributes international content and operates numerous television networks, making it one of the region’s most influential media companies.

  • Multi Image Group - A major player in live event production, this company supports televised productions, conferences, and large-scale broadcast experiences.

  • Newsmax Media - With expanding operations in Palm Beach County, Newsmax contributes significantly to ongoing broadcast production and workforce demand.

  • Digital Domain - A globally recognized visual effects company with roots in the region, Digital Domain has contributed to major films such as Titanic and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, positioning Palm Beach County as a hub for advanced digital production.

These companies provide critical infrastructure that allows productions to operate year-round while sustaining long-term industry growth.

A Diverse Landscape Across Film, Commercial, and Live Broadcast

The strength of Palm Beach County’s local production companies is reflected in the impressive range of projects choosing the region each year. Their expertise and infrastructure enable the county to support productions across television, streaming, commercial media, and live broadcast events, reinforcing Palm Beach County’s reputation as a versatile and production-ready destination.

Recent projects filmed throughout the region include nationally recognized television programs such as House Hunters, Welcome to Plathville, SC Featured, and Conversation Nation with Jeff Corwin, all of which highlight the county’s ability to accommodate diverse production needs and storytelling formats.

Streaming productions have also expanded Palm Beach County’s presence in the global entertainment landscape. Projects such as Melania (Amazon), Members Only: Palm Beach (Netflix), and The Rip (Netflix) demonstrate the region’s growing appeal to major content platforms. At the same time, digital creator MrBeast selected The Palm Beaches multiple times in 2025, producing content for an audience of more than 400 million subscribers—underscoring the region’s relevance not only in traditional film and television production, but also within the rapidly evolving creator economy.

National commercial campaigns represent another major component of the local production economy, bringing globally recognized brands and high-profile talent to Palm Beach County. Leading personalities such as Sylvester Stallone and Serena Williams have participated in productions filmed locally, alongside campaigns for major brands including Google, AT&T, Adidas, New Balance, Cadillac, Gillette, Lincoln, DraftKings, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. High-profile photoshoots for brands like Bergdorf Goodman and Sports Illustrated have further elevated the county’s national visibility, reinforcing its reputation as an ideal setting for lifestyle, luxury, and consumer-focused content.

Live event production and sports broadcasting have also become defining strengths for Palm Beach County, significantly expanding its national media presence. One of the most significant milestones was the launch of TGL, a nationally televised golf league developed by TMRW Sports Group, establishing the county as a host for innovative sports broadcasting experiences. Additional major sports broadcasts have included coverage of the U.S. Open Polo Championship on ESPN and the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, which aired across NBC, Golf Channel, and Peacock. Major League Baseball Spring Training coverage featuring teams such as the Houston Astros, St. Louis Cardinals, Miami Marlins, and Washington Nationals has further strengthened the region’s reputation as a hub for live sports production. Together, these events have significantly expanded Palm Beach County’s national broadcast footprint while supporting tourism, workforce development, and year-round production activity.

Driving Economic Impact and Developing the Future Workforce

Film and television production play a critical role in Palm Beach County’s broader tourism ecosystem while also supporting long-term workforce development across the region. Through strong partnerships with organizations such as the Discover The Palm Beaches, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County, and the Palm Beach County Convention Center, the region welcomed more than 10.7 million visitors in 2025, generating $7.7 billion in visitor spending and a total economic impact of $11.7 billion. Production crews themselves contribute directly to this growth through hotel stays, dining, transportation, and the use of local services, creating a ripple effect that benefits businesses across hospitality, logistics, and the creative economy.

At the same time, Palm Beach County is investing in the next generation of creators to ensure the long-term sustainability of its production ecosystem. Workforce development and education initiatives remain a cornerstone of this effort, highlighted by the 31st Annual Palm Beaches Student Showcase of Films, organized by the Palm Beach County Film & Television Commission. The program recorded 636 submissions from 95 schools statewide, making it Florida’s largest student film competition. Participants benefit from more than $30,000 in scholarships and prizes, professional exposure, and meaningful career pathway opportunities that connect students with industry professionals.

Together, these initiatives help cultivate a skilled local workforce while strengthening Palm Beach County’s position as a sustainable and competitive production destination.
